Place a block of refrigerated cream cheese in foil wrapper and a stick of refrigerated butter in waxed paper on the back patio at 5:30 PM.  Wait 25 minutes.

The good: Block of cream cheese is nicely softened and ready to use as a spread.

The bad: Stick of butter is half liquid and half all but, good only for dipping.

Oh dear. I have the challenge of a kitty who happens to reside with us and happens to be quite enamored with the taste of butter. Softening butter in our home is also quite complicated. :-)

I'm told Texas is a dry heat but its still not something I'd want to live with.

Not as dry as the desert, but fairly dry. Once it gets to 96 or more, it's almost always try. Summer days in the low 90s usually means there's a lot of humidity in the air - nasty.

It was! At least it didn't leak (much) out of the wax paper.
