nuranarAll the input has been great. I've gotten it cut - and actually even shorter than I intended (isn't it always like that?) - and I'm waiting for my rollers to heat so I can take proper pictures.
I REALLY appreciate the advice to go slower and see how I like it. The thing is, that's what I did for several years, and the "short" pictures I posted were pretty much the end result of it. I've said I haven't had a cut I've really regretted, but I have had several where I went home and wished I'd had a little more off, because the difference was so minimal.
The other thing is that it was SO long. (Not long in the "long hair" spectrum, but definitely long in the "regular hair" spectrum.) It's really been a year since I've been able to use the hot rollers to actually curl it.
And it grows fast. Those short pictures? July 2010. In 2.5 years it's grown roughly 8 inches, not counting 4-6 cuts/trims in the interim. My hair isn't super thick, but it grows fast.
So far, the only thing I slightly regret is that it is probably shorter in back than I thought it would be. But I like the shortness of the sides of the U-cut. At the very shortest it's right above my shoulders, below my ears. And I LOVE how it moves when I turn my head! It hasn't done that in two years.
