1817 and 1818 this time! 1818 has a set of German fashion plates; though they do look mostly French, as I skimmed them.

My loose translation: "Hat of velvet, spangled. [?] Redingote of merino [wool]."  Interesting color scheme, trimming green with blue; usually it's a bit more contrasting than that.

English walking dress. Again an unusual color combination: brown trimmed with pale blue.

When I finish 1820, I think I will go back and try to get the images for the 1790s and 1780s, if they're available. I know there's a lot of interest in that period. Besides, I learned a whole lot myself from this upload endeavor, and I'd like to learn the same for previous decades.

Or would people appreciate the next decade(s) more than the previous ones? Let me know!

I would love to see the 1780s, and especially the 1790s. :)

1780s and 1790s coming up! I did download some source images today - they're not as well organized as the 1800-onward ones (the French didn't start dating their plates until almost 1800, and then it was in the Republican calendar), but there's still quite a few. Most of them I've never seen before. :)

Wow! Thank you for sharing! I was just pondering colors for Regency menswear, and wishing I could find some fashion plates with men in them, and voila! Here are tons, on your flickr collection! Yay! :)

Where do you find this stuff?

I'm in the minority, I guess... I would love to see 1830-40 era styles. It's a period that seems to get overlooked between the Austen era and the Civil War and what I have been able to find is of questionable authenticity (i.e. old movies. Ha.) The basic lines may be correct but the details no doubt are all off.

These are high-res photos from a French library:
http://www.lesartsdecoratifs.fr/francais/bibliotheque/

Click "Consultation du catalogue" on the left,
then "recherche simple,"
then type "modes" in the "Termes de recherche" box, check "Album Maciet" under "Documents numérisés," and click "RECHERCHER."

Select a category (by time period) by clicking the blue number, then "Voir les vignettes Maciet" on the right to bring up thumbnails of everything in that particular category. Clicking a thumbnail opens up a zoom window that's amazingly powerful.

What I'm doing is cropping the photos (and separating the images since they're from 1-6 per photo) so they can be more easily browsed for research purposes. Flickr was the handiest organizational tool I could think of!

I do want to do 1830s and 1840s! I think that will wait until after the 1780s and 1790s stuff, but I totally want to do it. The detail on these images is incredible.
